A PhD grant in forest ecology/forest biogeochemistry is available at the Earth and Life Institute (Universite catholique de Louvain, UCL, Belgium) for a project entitled: ‘The nutrition of oak and beech trees along a tree diversity gradient: disentangling the impacts of nutrient supply and capture’.

This research is being funded by UCL in the frame of the FP7 FunDivEUROPE (Functional significance of forest biodiversity in Europe) project.
This study will be based at UCL, Earth and Life Institute, Forest Sciences Research Group, in Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium). The project will be supervised jointly by Prof. Quentin Ponette (UCL, Earth and Life Institute) and Prof. Kris Verheyen (Ghent University, Forest & Nature Lab), within the framework of the FP7 FunDivEUROPE project.
Funding is secured for a 24-month period by a grant from UCL (Grant partly exempted from social contributions). Successful applicants will have a master degree in ecology, forestry, soil science, or a related discipline. They will be enthousiastic for both field and lab work, with a strong interest in data analysis. Due to field work, owing a driving license is mandatory. Applications will comprise a full c.v., including the grades and notes, a recommendation letter, as well as a motivation letter. The deadline for the receipt of applications is Friday 16 August 2013; expecting starting date is Monday 2 September 2013.
